I moved to Antigua in the West Indies (on the map at the link to the left we are located less then 1/4 miles from the ocean straight up from the top of the star indicating St. Johns) on August 19, 2000. I was offered and accepted a job with a startup Online Casino called DrHo888.com. The job came loaded with a ton of benefits including great pay and a completely snow free environment, plus many more, but those are the big ones that attracted me to the job.

Life here hasn't been real easy. One would tend to think, "Hey, it's a paradise." It is compared to a nice winter day of blowing snow and -20C temps. But, when you are here for more then 1 or 2 weeks you are forced to deal with the locals on more then a casual touristy sort of way. Ever called someone for service of any sort (cable, phone, pager, car, etc) and they said it would take 2 or 3 days and it takes a week? Frustrated? Try waiting 2 or 3 MONTHS for the simplest of stuff, like an ISDN line. It took 2 weeks to get Long distance added to my phone so I could call off the island. Anyhow, I'm just bitching now. Ok, enough, on to our little Caribbean adventure.

In order to keep the main page a little cleaner I have moved all entries from the Year 2000 to another page. If you wish to see what happened to me in Antigua during the last half of the year 2000 Click on this link

Our trip to the British Virgin Island of Tortola. We decided to take a couple of days and fly up to Tortola. It was a great trip. We did a driving tour of the island, what took a couple of hours and was a great way to see the island. Don't bother renting a car, let someone else do the driving. Too much to look at. Anyhow, there are a lot of pics. I don't have any descriptions, but the file names are pretty descriptive.

Here are some pictures from a birthday party we had for Robs Mother. Yeah Yeah I know.. yet another party. Well, Cheryl slaved all day getting things ready, baking cakes to feed all the people we expected (and that showed up). Cheryl had some of the girls over in the morning to help decorate the place and blow up balloons.
Ok, enough of the talking.. here are the pics.

Happy 5? B-Day Mom!

Check out these pics. I went with some folks to Pinapple Beach perhaps back in late May early June, I can't recall, but these are some pics from the underwater camera my mother gave last year for my B-Day. If you look at a couple and don't think you see anything in the picture of note, think "Where's Waldo" and keep looking. Some of the fish are tricky little critters.

Ok, so I finally decided to take a much needed break from Antigua. What better reason to head back to Canada for a week visit with my family. Right now I only have some pictures from a Thousand Islands boat cruise I took with my father. He use to work for Rockport Boat Lines and so he can get on the boats when he wants. We got to ride in the Wheel house which was nice because it was warm in there :) It was a little chilly that day.

I will also have some pictures from my Grandmother's 80th B-day party. I only have a few from the digital camera, but I hope to get some other pictures on here as well. BTW, I'm updating these pages from the plane enroute back to Antigua. Well, I'm typing it all now, but I will upload the pages once I get back on the ground.

NEW

Well, the ride is over. The company has down sized and it's time to move on. I will be heading back to Canada for a couple of days then moving on to the UK to look for work. You can check out the new site at Rob's UK Experience. It's up and running now.

The girls all left in 3 groups. I didn't get any pics of the first group that left, but here are pics of groups from Oct 18 and Oct 19.

Second group to leave on Oct 18.

Third and final groups of girls to leave on Oct 19.

This will be the last update to this site. It will remain here until the life of the domain runs out and it will be archived and move under one of my other sites just for the sake of keeping the information around. I thank everyone that visited the site while I was down there. I will try and keep the new site updated, but I must admit, it won't have nearly the same number of pics as I won't be working with a group like this again.

For now, from the UK, this is it. Cheers!!!
